Familia! Finally.. home!!

On Sunday, I woke up at the camp and had breakfast. After breakfast, I got my luggage together and took a bus to the Asuncion bus station. There I met both Carlos and Patricia - my host brother and sister. Sadly, at first I didn't recognize them!! Carlos came up to me and said "Que tal?" but I nervously turned away from them because I was unsure of who they were! Once I realized... I was very excited -- even though I said little words! Patricia came with me to Pilar on the bus home. I arrived there at about 6:00 PM.

My local AFS chapter, two of my sisters and my mother were waiting for me there. So excited. We then took a taxi to our house from the bus station. We talked a little bit together and had pizza for dinner! :) Noelia and Viviana's children were here at home as well and they love to play computer games. They have so much energy! To conclude the evening, Patricia and I watched a movie.

Last night I slept very comfortably in my bed. I am so lucky.. because I have such a great room!! :) I woke up a couple of times last night and this morning to dogs barking. When the dogs here on the street or houses see each other, or people they go crazy and bark together. It was very surprising to me because it sounded like a herd of dogs through my window. When I woke up, I remembered I was in Paraguay and laughed to myself. This is one of the sounds I have heard often since I arrived in Pilar and it may sound strange but I like it! We have one dog, Dana. vvvv que linda, no?

This morning I had breakfast with Patty and we watched TV. I am not going to school yet because the teachers on strike so I am not certain as to when I will start. However, AFS Paraguay participants receive 40 hours of Spanish class and I believe that starts on Thursday. We ate a nice lunch together today, it was a typical Paraguayan dish, something Guarani. I also had salad and Mandioca. All of the food was very good! It is helpful that my mom speaks English so she can help me when I need it. I'm surprised by how much I understand.. but I say such little!!

After lunch, Patricia and I went out to do errands, see my school, and I got new slippers for in the house. We traveled by moto. Something that they do a lot here in Pilar. I could almost say that I saw more motos than cars in the streets when we were out. I was hesitant at first but I know it is something that I will have to get used to. When I got home, I took a nap. My brain is full from all of the Spanish around me - but I am lucky because Patricia and my other family are so patient with me :).

Also, from what I have seen Pilar is so clean and beautiful. I will take pictures to show as soon as I have the chance!!
